Flowing out of the Nyungwe rain forest in southwestern Rwanda the Nyabarongo river crosses the country meeting the Akagera river on the border of Tanzania to form Russumo Falls. There was little known, or at least publicized, about the river, its inhabitants, and the wildlife in the ares. The curiosity of the unknown was biting at me for some time until I met Mark Darrough, a photo-journalist living in Kigali, who also had the urge to explore the Nyabarongo. Shortly after we met we set out to explore the river. These photos were taken by Mark and represent a snapshot of our experience.
